Rain Water Catchment

Rain-Catchment Tanks and Grey-Water Filters – Water shortages are one of the major challenges faced by Rabinal communities, due to a gradual but constant process of desertification in the area. Irrigation water is only available when drinking water needs in the community are met, which is a rare incidence.

Aware of this challenge, the Association provides families the skills and knowhow to build simple grey-water filters to clean and recycle dish water. Hence, the possibility arises to have vegetable gardens that can be watered whenever needed, opening a new array of possibilities in their economic and social development.
